Full route between Montfalcó and La Masieta crossing the Congost de Mont-rebei. A trail carved into the rock with views of the Canelles reservoir, the Montfalcó walkways, and suspension bridges, in a highly scenic landscape between Aragon and Catalonia.
This route crosses one of the most spectacular gorges in the Pre-Pyrenees, within the Montsec natural area, between Aragon and Catalonia, next to the Canelles reservoir.
The trail connects the Montfalcó area with La Masieta, following the path of the Congost de Mont-rebei, a cliffside path carved into the rock that runs high above the river.
The route begins at the Montfalcó parking area. From here, a marked trail starts, gradually descending towards the ravine.
In the initial section, you pass through wooded areas and reach the Montfalcó walkways, built in wood and anchored to the rock, along with their vertical ladders. This is one of the most distinctive parts of the entire route.
After completing this equipped section, you reach the suspension bridge over the ravine, marking the transition into the Congost de Mont-rebei.
From the suspension bridge onwards begins the Congost de Mont-rebei section itself.
Here, the trail enters the gorge, with paths carved into the rock and sections secured with anchors fixed into the cliff face.
During this route you can enjoy:
Towering vertical cliffs.
Narrow passages over the void.
Constant views of the Canelles reservoir.
A striking landscape of rock and water.
This route can be done in several ways:
The full route is completed to La Masieta and then returned along the same path.
The route starts in Montfalcó and ends in La Masieta (or the other way around), using two vehicles: one at each end.
In suitable season and conditions, some people return by kayak across the reservoir, offering a different perspective of the gorge from the water.
The route ends at La Masieta, one of the main access points on the Catalan side of the Congost de Mont-rebei.
From here, you can either conclude the route or begin the return journey depending on the option chosen.
Long route of medium-high difficulty
